A half sphere, also known as a hemisphere, is a three-dimensional shape that represents exactly one-half of a full sphere, divided along its central axis. It features a smooth, rounded dome surface on one side and a flat circular base on the other.
Common uses for a half sphere include:
- Weighted bases or counterbalances in mechanical systems
- Decorative accents or display props in art and design
- Paperweights or desk ornaments
- Components in architectural modeling or educational tools
- Molded forms for casting materials like soap, resin, or concrete
- Tactile or ergonomic features in product design
